Who We Volunteer For.

Empowerment Through Connection

Because every act of kindness causes a ripple effect

Each program we team up with an environmental, local, national & global charity to lend our Hiking Hearts & Hands to support communities near & far.

These Community Connection Days are designed to leave girls with a sense of fulfillment & positivity knowing that their hard work impacts the lives of others.

We endeavour to teach our girls how powerful their simple choices & actions are & how they can make a positive impact in the world. In turn, deepening their sense of gratitude for their own lives; these Community Connection days are an integral component in our program.

This years Charities include:

Happy Boxes Project - National Charity

We’ve teamed up with the wonderful Happy Boxes Project to educate our Hiking Hearts about the disadvantages girls their own age face in rural & remote areas. With help from our sponsors, our Hiking Hearts are on a mission to supply boxes of basic female necessities. We collect supplies throughout the program, pack them all up & send to a remote community - some so remote they are only accessible via boat or plane.

“The goal is to provide girls, regardless of their location and situation, with the enjoyment of life’s little luxuries that we regularly take for granted. It may not sound like much, but a little can go a long way.”

Strong women are the backbone of our communities

Mothers, Sisters, Aunties, Grandmothers; all trying to support their families in adverse circumstances, quite often pouring from an empty cup. If just one Happy Box can fill one person’s cup, then what we do is more than worthwhile. We believe kindness is contagious. And if our random act of kindness gives one person the energy to fill another’s cup, the kindness will continue to ripple outwards.

The Happy Boxes Project aim to:

  • Support the empowerment of women through alleviating the barriers of accessing basic needs,

  • Provide opportunities for women to build capacity for individual and community development; and

  • Provide opportunities for women to share story and create connection to nurture positive mental health.

Baby Give Back - Local Gold Coast Charity

Baby Give Back is a Queensland charity passionate about helping vulnerable babies, children and families in our community. This beautiful chairty works hard to continuously collect donated essential items (everything from clothing and nappies to cots, prams and car seats) & work with caseworkers and social workers to provide customised orders for families desperately in need within our community.

Our HHH Program heads in to their Gold Coast location to lend our helping hands. We collect, sort and clean donated essential items to help BGB fulfill their orders as quickly as possible.

“Our girls helping this chairty makes a huge impact in the lives of those struggling locally”

Make Ways Foundation - International Charity

Gold Coast marathon runner Kat Cacavas recently registered a charity, with the first big project, opening a not-for-profit sports store in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Growing up with adopted family from Sierra Leone, Kat has travelled many times back & forth to the country most famous for Blood Diamonds, civil war & the Ebola Virus. Since competing in the national Sierra Leone Marathon in 2013, Kat continues to remain passionate & instrumental in supporting underprivileged youth to compete in the biggest running event in their country. “It provides a chance for the kids to journey away from their remote village for the weekend & attend an international running event. They look forward to the marathon all year.”Find them at: https://makewaysfoundation.orgWhy HHH partners with Make Ways Foundation? Our foundations both run (& hike ;) on the same core value of Human Connection & strive to inspire new perspectives on our natural environments. As we can’t travel internationally right now, it’s harder than ever for teen girls in Australia to get the opportunity to directly help kids around the world run. Our role for this Community Connection DayMake Ways Foundation have organised the heavy lifting of a shipping container full of sporting goods to be sent to Sierra Leon. At present only a third of the container is full. Our HHH Queens will be heading to their storage station to help tie shoe laces & organise sporting goods ready to fill the container. Plus help donate what we can!

Why HHH partners with Make Ways Foundation?

At the core of both our foundations is resilience. This is an opportunity for our HHH Queens to directly help the youth in an underprivileged country.

Naturally GC - Gold Coast

And of course we help our local environment! By helping to revegetate and restore our local bush lands with The City of Gold Coast Council. Naturally GC have been working to restore the reserve lands since 2000. We help to make a difference by planting trees & be a part of the legacy by contributing to one of Australia's largest coastal rainforest project.
